Join your Atlanta ITSMF Family on #GivingTuesday for this community outreach event. Volunteers will sort and pack books according to category and age level. Books are shipped to Africa to help create a culture of literacy and empower the next generation of parents, teachers, and leaders. Up to 15 volunteers needed. No heavy lifting involved. Volunteers should be at least 14 years old.
Books For Africa remains the largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent, shipping over 45 million books to all 55 countries on the African continent since 1988. Last year alone, Books For Africa shipped 3.3 million books, and 155 computers and e-readers containing over 400,000 digital books, to 29 African countries. More than $2.7 million was raised last year to ship these books to the students of Africa.
ITSMF Foundation
Through the ITSMF Foundation, members, alliances and partners collaborate on community initiatives that provide access to technology resources and promote STEM education. Whether refurbishing computers for low-income families, mentoring college students, helping young professionals to develop their interviewing and networking skills, or simply tackling the socio-economic barriers that can hinder children from reaching their full potential, ITSMF is committed to closing the STEM gap and supporting the growth of a diverse technology workforce.
