Are all of the 2020 Symposiums canceled?
No, we have not canceled all of our 2020 symposiums. The 1st symposium (S1 2020) in Atlanta, GA is being rescheduled for a later date. The 2nd symposium (S2 2020) in Reston, VA has been canceled. The 3rd symposium (S3 2020) in Redmond, WA is currently still scheduled. We are continuing to monitor developments regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and will communicate additional event updates as they are confirmed.
What happens to my current symposium (S1 2020) registration?
We look forward to hosting S1 2020 this summer. While we are confirming new dates, the location and venue will remain the same. Once the new dates are confirmed, your existing registration will be automatically applied to this event date.
We strongly encourage you to keep your existing S1 2020 registration in place until the new dates have been confirmed to avoid additional transactional costs assessed to you and to the organization. If you find that you are no longer able to attend this event based on the new dates, then we ask that you cancel your registration at that time by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I cancel my hotel reservation at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta?
In light of the circumstances, please be sure to contact the hotel directly at (404) 946-9000 to cancel your hotel reservation as quickly as possible. Guests must cancel their reservations 48 hours prior to arrival to avoid a one night’s room/tax penalty.
Can I keep my hotel reservation at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta?
Yes! If you are still planning to travel to Atlanta for other meetings or events being held during that time, the hotel has agreed to honor your existing reservation at the ITSMF rate.
Will I be able to change or cancel my flight?
Please contact your airline provider directly to evaluate your options to change or cancel your flight. Under the circumstances, some airlines may offer flexible policies related to events being rescheduled and canceled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
When will the Technology Achievement Awards Ceremony occur?
The Technology Achievement Awards will be hosted this year during our rescheduled ITSMF Symposium (S1 2020) in Atlanta. We will honor all tables and seats that were included through a partnership, as well as any tables and seats that were purchased by individuals.
I’m unable to attend the rescheduled S1 2020 event. How can I get a refund for my credit card payment?
If you are unable to attend S1 2020 during the rescheduled timeframe, and paid by credit card, then please send an email to email@example.com with your cancellation request. The events team will assist you with processing the cancellation in one of the following ways:
- Receive a credit to attend a future 2020 symposium
- Donate all or a portion of your event costs to the scholarship fund
- Receive a full refund, minus the processing fee, back to your credit card

Will the recent changes affect my ITSMF Member access to the symposiums?
Your membership benefits will not change based on the recent symposium updates. We look forward to engaging with all of our members during the upcoming symposiums, networking events, and community outreach activities. Be on the lookout for a separate member communication to address your participation in these events.
ITSMF Management Associate
As an ITSMF Management Associate, will my prepaid events be affected?
As a prepaid 2019-2020 ITSMF Management Associate, you will still recognize the full value of the ITSMF experience during our upcoming events. Be on the lookout for a separate associate communication to address your participation and additional opportunities to connect this year.
Will my GIPD academy sessions be canceled?
None of the Management, Emerge or Executive Academy sessions are being canceled. While we will need to adjust some of our session dates, we will deliver the full Academy experience as intended to include all content, capstone projects, and the graduation ceremony. All academy participants will receive additional communications regarding these updates.
Will the 2020 academy cohorts graduate?
Yes, and we can’t wait to celebrate them! ITSMF is committed to delivering the full academy experience, to include the graduation ceremony. Additional details will be provided on the event date and location as soon as they are confirmed.
I submitted my application for the new 2020-2021 academy cohort. Will my sessions begin as scheduled?
We are currently making adjustments due to recent event changes, but do not anticipate any disruption to the delivery of your academy content. In light of the coronavirus situation, we are also exploring new ways to engage with academy participants to further enhance your ITSMF experience. All academy participants will receive additional communications regarding their upcoming sessions and content.
