ATLANTA, JULY 24, 2017 – Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) is pleased to announce Kelvin Beachum, Jr. as the presenting sponsor and keynote of its 1st Quarter 2018 Symposium and 14th annual Technology Achievement Awards. The events will be held March 8-10, 2018 at The Renaissance Dallas Hotel in Texas. Historically, these events have been hosted by companies like Bank of America, Lowes, Hewlett-Packard and PepsiCo. For the first time in ITSMF’s history, an individual, Kelvin Beachum, Jr., will join that roster.
“I am honored to partner with ITSMF on an event that highlights icons, innovators, founders, entrepeneurs, and trailblazers in the technology industry. ITSMF shares my vision for increasing the representation of minority professionals and developing a sustainable pipeline for students from academia to career, and I am thrilled to celebrate the successes, leadership, and growth of these professionals paving the way,” said Kelvin Beachum, Jr.
This two-and-a-half-day technology, leadership and diversity event represents ITSMF’s largest attended event of the year, and commences with a networking reception. The Symposium brings together nationally-renowned speakers, industry experts, entrepreneurial leaders, ITSMF members and students for a series of engaging and content rich sessions. The annual Technology Achievement Awards is ITSMF’s marquee event that recognizes today’s innovators and tomorrow’s game changers. The Awards Ceremony serves as ITSMF’s largest organizational and educational foundation fundraiser.
Beachum is committed to helping young people, especially minority and disadvantaged youth, develop the habits and skills for success. He has a special focus on encouraging minority youth to engage in STEM-centric disciplines and STEM careers. “We are indeed excited for the opportunity to partner with Mr. Beachum as his passion and engagement for STEM aligns with the work that we do to positively impact the STEM pipeline and increase the representation of black professionals in technology,” said Viola Thompson, President and CEO for ITSMF.

About Information Technology Senior Management Forum
The Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF), formed in 1996, began with a conversation between a few prominent technology executives who found that only 3% percent of information technology management roles were being held by African-Americans. Studies suggested that not enough African-Americans were positioned for senior-level technology positions. This discussion sparked those executives to action as they were compelled to reach, teach and cultivate those aspiring African-American technology professionals. The 501c(3) organization was founded in Chicago, Illinois and began the work of recruiting those African-Americans who ranked among the Who’s Who in technology; as well as those companies and individuals looking to support the mission of the organization. ITSMF, celebrating its 21st year, still remains the only national organization dedicated exclusively to cultivating executive talent among African-American IT professionals.
