Mainframe Services at BNY Mellon is at the very foundation of our business.  We’re a dynamic and growing environment supporting many of our Core Business Systems.  The Mainframe Services team is responsible for delivering highly resilient systems on the latest IBM hardware and multi-vendor software.  As a member of this team, you can be a part of implementing technology driven by several significant investment programs to move us to the next level of processing.

 

The Group Manager, Information Security, manages a medium to large-sized or multiple small teams responsible for organization data protection. Oversees mainframe security architecture, security monitoring and auditing, incident reporting/response and forensics. Leads and oversees mainframe security projects and resourcing. Liaises with business process owners to ensure ongoing alignment.  Responsible for the development and delivery of mainframe security standards.  Directs the monitoring of the utilization and effectiveness of security resources.  Provides direction and guidance on reports and analyses and ensures recommendations are aligned with customer/business needs and capabilities. Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Candidate will be responsible for managing the team that supports the IBM Mainframe ACF2 and RACF security environment engineering functions.

  • He / she will also be responsible for supporting third party vendor software utilities and packages as well as in-house developed solutions that are used to manage the security environments.

  • He /she will be responsible to interact with auditors and provide information required to complete auditing tasks.

 

Group Manager, Information Security->> Manages a medium to large-sized or multiple small teams responsible for organization data protection. Oversees CTS security architecture, security monitoring and auditing, incident reporting/response and forensics. Leads and oversees information security projects and resourcing. Liaises with business process owners to ensure ongoing alignment. Responsible for the development and delivery of CTS security and/or COB standards to ensure information system security across the business. Directs the monitoring of the utilization and effectiveness of security resources. Develops and implements processes and methods for auditing and addressing non-compliance and information security and/or COB standards. Provides direction and guidance on reports and analyses and ensures recommendations are aligned with customer/business needs and capabilities. Monitors budgets and schedules for projects conducted by teams and ensures they are completed in a timely manner. Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. Manages one or more information security teams. Contributes to the achievement of team objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required, advanced degree is preferred.

  • Ten or more (10+) years of experience in information security or related technology experience is required.

  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

  • Candidate should be proficient with aspects of the z/OS operating system such as JCL, TSO, VSAM, etc.

  • Extensive knowledge of both CA ACF2 and IBM RACF security systems.  This would include both administrative functions and system internals.

  • Knowledge of other products used to support mainframe security such as zSecure, EFT/A ESR-F and others.

  • Working knowledge of mainframe subsystems such as MQ, DB2, CICS, and IMS with a focus on the security requirements of each.

  • Working knowledge of mainframe pervasive encryption solutions a plus.

  • Ability to productively manage a team and coordinate work efforts across various simultaneous projects.

  • Candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills and will often be a direct liaison with other IS development and infrastructure teams.

  • Support audit activities and be able to respond to requests from auditors, application developers, and end users in a timely fashion.
