Strategic Cost Optimization (SCO) is about analyzing IT spend across the enterprise, identifying and prioritizing optimization opportunities that best align with evolving business and IT strategies, then executing on core deliverables to deliver multi-year cost efficiencies in support of a strategic target state. It reaches far beyond traditional cost reduction activities and is a key enabler of business renewal plans.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Define strategic direction and coordinate all SCO Working Groups.
  • Responsible for progressing the “Strategic Alignment” Working Group in particular, which includes:
    • Work with senior leads to establish a business process and capability framework to identify opportunities for strategic cost optimization.
    • Coordinate and champion alignment of our Technology Operation Model with Architectural Target State and Shared Services development.
    • Support the drive toward Target State through application consolidation, standardization, rationalization, and/or strategic replacement.
  • Work with IT Finance and Business Management to develop a “cost-to-achieve” model, detailing multi-year efficiencies and investments associated with strategically divesting from legacy areas.
  • Identify drivers, opportunities, and financial impact - then execute on core deliverables to deliver multi-year cost efficiencies across the Technology organization.
  • Contribute to the development of an overall technology plan and development roadmap that will support the growth planned across the IT organization.
  • Design, perform and oversee a wide range of larger scale strategic projects, directing and formulating recommendations and obtaining stakeholder buy-in.
  • Provide solutions to complex business problems for areas of responsibility where analysis of situations requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of an overall technology plan and development roadmap that will support the growth planned across the IT organization.
  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of multiple areas within technology to achieve project objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of related experience preferred, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Very strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with tools such as Apptio, Confluence, JIRA, and PowerBI preferred.
  • Stong familiarity with the Technology Business Management (TBM) framework
  • Experience with budgeting, data modeling, and IT cost transparency
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly, demonstrated by experience in an engineering environment.
  • Ability to take ambiguous topics and translate into actionable plans working with multiple business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
